Message from principal rueda
As Thanksgiving approaches, it is traditionally a time to reflect on all for which we are grateful. Although we may have suffered and/or lost loved ones to COVID-19, struggled with finances and had to learn how to teach our children from home, it is undoubtely the most important year to once again take that moment to reflect on all for which we are grateful. We have all come together and are taking the necessary steps to stay healthy; we have learned to appreciate our relationships with friends and loved ones; we have realized the inner strength we possess as parents; we have learned to appreciate the little things in life as well as the joy that those around us bring. Along with the administration and staff, I am truly grateful for all of our P231K children and families. You have changed your entire lives, especially when it comes to your child’s education. Along with alternating between remote and blended learning, according to your preference, many of you have once again had to revert back to remote learning due to COVID-19 positivity rates in some of our sites’ surrounding zip codes. We are grateful for your flexibility and understanding throughout all of this. We are grateful for your willingness to work closely with your child’s classroom team at a moment’s notice.
As many of you will recall, the Department of Education is giving the parents of children who are learning 100% remotely the opportunity to opt into blended/in-person learning. In our school, this means that the child would come to the school building to learn for one week and then would learn remotely from home the following week. If your child is currently learning 100% remotely and you would like to opt into blended learning, you must complete the Learning Preference survey on the Department of Education’s website. https://www.nycenet.edu/surveys/learningpreference You can only opt into blended learning from Monday, November 2 – Sunday, November 15. If you need assistance, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
